Interested in a Holistic Treatment for Digestive Problems?
Looking for relief from issues such as stomach upset, gas, heartburn, diarrhea, nausea, or constipation?
At Inner Harmony Wellness Center, we understand how digestive issues can cause significant disruptions in your life. Rather than just suppressing your symptoms, we take a holistic approach to resolving these issues by getting at the root cause.
Here are some of the components of our holistic treatment for Digestive problems:
Eat real nutritious green organic food: the Western typical diet is high in refined carbs and and processed foods and preservatives which can greatly increase the risk of developing digestive disorders. Food additives such as glucose, salt, and other chemicals contribute to increased gut inflammation leading to a leaky gut condition.
Get plenty of fiber: fibers are highly beneficial for good digestion. Soluble fiber absorbs water and helps add bulk to your stool. Foods containing high levels of soluble fiber include dried beans, oats, oat bran, rice bran, barley, citrus fruits, apples, strawberries, peas, and potatoes. Insoluble fiber is also important as it helps to slow the digestive process, feed the good gut bacteria and regulate blood sugars. Foods high in insoluble fiber include wheat bran, whole grains, cereals, seeds, and the skins of many fruits and vegetables.
Add healthy fats to your diet: eating fat is needed for good digestion. Fat helps you feel satisfied after a meal and is required for proper absorption of nutrients. Omega-3 fatty acids may decrease your risk of developing inflammatory bowel diseases like ulcerative colitis.
Stay hydrated: low intake of fluid is the most common cause of constipation. It is recommended that you drink 2.7 (women) to 3.7 (men) l of non-caffeinated fluid per day to prevent constipation. If you're living in a warm environment you should intake more fluid. Try to include fruits and vegetables in your diet rich in water like cucumbers, zucchini, celery, tomatoes, melons, strawberries, grapefruit, and peaches.
Eat mindfully: mindful eating is the practice of paying attention to all aspects of your food and the process of eating.
- Eat slowly
- Focus on your food by turning off the TV or other things that can distract you
- Eat every bite of food consciously
- Pay attention to the texture, temperature, and taste of your food
It is easy to eat too quickly if you are not paying attention, leading to bloating, gas, and indigestion.
